Kihachi - Lacquered 'Long life' bowl (black) 喜八(漆器)

Established 400 years ago, Kihachi is renowned for their very traditional, technical approach to their craftsmanship. They use a potter's wheel to create a very thin, delicate distinctive finish. Kihachi has always endeavoured to improve their products and have often adopted modern aesthetics.

The diversely used Kihachi 'long life bowl' is not your typical plastic miso bowl you see at japanese restaurants. Made from wood with a thiner coating of lacquer so the wood grain is pronounced, these bowls take on a life of their own and 'become yours' as time moulds them from your many meals.
