Walk In The Park - NZ woodturning artists
Sam Choi and Jiho Yun originally from Korea, husband and wife team and they are currently live in NZ. They believe in a simple, honest approach to design where aesthetics and utility are intrinsic. They are making their products in a woodturning studio in Titirangi.
Sam is making and designing all the wooden products. Jiho is photographing and sometimes contributing to design as well. They are true handcrafts using all natural sourced products that are environmentally friendly. Sometimes, the pieces can vary in size and shape because they use lots of different sizes and conditions of wood that mostly sourced from local communities or local small suppliers.
Especially wood is an alive material, it changes slightly every day sometimes every hour because of humidity. But I can say it is all about beauty and worth of handmade wooden products. Each of their product is a unique piece and all one-off in the sense.
Their wood is mostly from Matamata and local suppliers around Auckland.
The finishing products are all natural and food safe. They use pure tung oil, beeswax and natural lacquer.
Please let me know if there is anything you want to know more about these products.
